It's a mesh anode full wave rectifier.

A lovely sounding little rectifier - just 70mA with 4v heaters.

now that is a sexy little tube isn't it!!! I WANT ONE!!!
and guess what... i'm gunna get one... just so happens that for my next project i'm designing a (guitar) preamp, so with the low current draw, this tube suits perfectly... i only just designed the PS this afternoon, so it's not too late to re-calculate for this seeing as i haven't even goten to the stage of drawing one single loadline yet... a couple of minutes work to find a data sheet and plug in the values, and voila... i can have not only a preamp, but a sexy preamp too (with a very nice looking (e)recto... funny joke)! lucky me... and it's a whole $6 cheaper than the 5U4G i was going to use! woo hoo!
thanks for the inspiration all...
later
EDIT: oh no, that $6 cheaper was on 2nd hand price... they're like $15 more than a 5U4G new... still, i might get a 2nd hand one, i trust the guy who owns the company i buy tubes from, and he has a pretty good track record with the 2nd hand tubes he sells.
