Avo valve testor 2 panel. The neon bulb needs to be replaced, does anyone know what i need to get to replace it. The one in the testor has no marks on it and i cant find any reference in schematic.
Is it just a normal two wire glass neon bulb?, used for an indicator lamp? - then just any standard little neon will work - presuming it has an external current limiting resistor.
In not sure if it has. Im trying to find out about this lamo on the avo two panel valve testor. I believe its for testing shorts in the valves before fully testing them.
Maybe this? https://www.elliottelectronicsupply.com/b7a-ne45.html The candlabra base neon is pretty rare. The proce reflects the rarity.
How do you know its bad? Or is it missing? Those lamps in that application should last forever.

Well what I inderstand is when you power on the Avo 2 panel 1. This indicator lamp should light to show the unit is on 2. When testing a valve for shorts, it should light up to show if there isnt a short. So when I turn the unit on it does not light up, then when I check a tube which Im using in a amplifier and know is working it again does not light up.
Traditionally the short lamp lights when there is a short. Normally off and almost infinate life. The neon light is used since it uses very little current to light. If you have a tube with a short or know which pins on the socket to short you could test the ;lamp.
