Don't you usually remove the bass unit and look. For sure, it must disassemble for service. 😀

Front baffles aren't thick enough to be in quite the same spirit, though still decent designs in their later forms. I'd probably change the filtering a bit as well (just to suit my own tastes).
IIRC depending on model Avalon use external filters or a separate sealed compartment near the base of the enclosure, leaving room for the vent where relevant.
