I have a Goodmans Micro1430 mini Hi Fi with a cheap and nasty audio output thingamajig. One of the negative clamps wont hold the speaker wire firmly enough, it can just about fall out by itself,so I have to wiggle it around to get sound out of that channel. I don't want to start pulling it apart before I ask here if there is any advice on fixing these things? I would get a new one if I new where to get one that would fit? Would I be better off replacing it with four proper binding posts somehow?

If the enclosure in which these are mounted has space, I'd definitely go for 5-way binding posts - just be very careful when de-soldering this contraption from the very cheap phenolic PCB - those are notorious for poor quality plating of traces, and for cracking,
I'd snip of the plastic snap fittings and use solder-wick.

Thanks for the suggestion chrisb,Ive ordered a pair of 5 way binding posts from fleabay. By the way its only the cheap binding post that is of low quality the PCB and the components are all top quality. This little system has sound quality that is jaw dropping, I'm very impressed with it. Funny that Ive never heard of this brand before though? Oh I nearly forgot, why do they call them 5-way?
Commonly designed in a style called five-way or universal, such binding posts allow the connection of several different types of connections:
- Banana plugs, inserted into the open end of the binding post
- Pin connectors, inserted into a hole drilled through the metal post and clamped by the screw-down portion of the binding post.
- Bare wire inserted through the same hole and clamped, or
- Wrapped around the metal post and clamped.
- A lug terminal inserted around the metal post and clamped.

The binding post was a commercial invention of the General Radio Corporation.

I like 'em cause I got used to using lighter gauge speakers and these decades ago:
Not specifically designed for speaker connectors, and certainly don't pass the audiosnob / bling approval test, but are dirt cheap, and if you're one of those crazy hobbyists with half a dozen or more pairs of speakers eligible for testing at any given time, make for very quick swapping.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I don't get it,how do I use those things? When I install the dual binding binding posts I wont need them? Whats on the other end of the banana plug?

Not much to get, I don't think, Pomona (and others) dual banana plugs for insertion into 5-way binding posts. The set screws are for wires fed through the side holes, and they also allow for stacking of additional plugs - something we've actually used more than a few times. The ribbed side is polarized for ground
