Hi Guys/Girls
My name is Dylan and I am from South Africa. Just wanted to say hi and get some input from you. I am a complete novice at this and I know virtually know nothing about audio. I am an engineer so I know basics, but that is about it.
The reason I joined this forum is because I am have a project in mind but not really sure of where to start. The crux for the project is to turn an old school FM car radio into a 21st century sound system without changing the aesthetics and maintaining the FM radio functionality. I have two Sanyo units, a Rally and a Super Rally. I am into classic cars but unfortunately, not the classic sound quality. Hence the project. Ulitmately I'd like to end up with something that has stereo speakers that can be balanced and faded, as well as having the input from the curent devices. My thoughts are to use my bluetooth headset as the wireless connection method between my phone/ipod/laptop. I realize that there will be a power circuit, an amp circuit and perhaps a FM radio circuit (I don't mind if the current innards need to be removed as long as the new innards incorporate the FM tuner knob's and the volume/on-off knob's functionallity). I'm thinking to transplant the tuning pots pulley onto the new FM circuit's pot. My thoughts also steer me toward a toggle switch to change modes between the FM radio and the aux input.
Let me know what you guys think and where on the forum it would be best to post the project thread.
Thanks,
Dylan

Hi Dylan and welcome to diyAudio.
Hmmm... that sounds quite a project.
When it comes to the power supply needed then ask away in the power supplies forum,
Power Supplies - diyAudio
The rest of though... its got to "everything else" I think 🙂 Maybe if you posted pictures of it all and outline what you intend.
