When I told Asto he must post here, he asked me to post for him since his english is not so good. His carpenter skills are much better. In fact he is a carpenter by profession.

The horn curve is a modified LeCleach. Relationship between sides and top/bottom is golden ratio. When I asked him how he made the two curves meet, I didn´t understand his explanation.

He will mount the horns in a box where the flares will continue to the left and right. I will be a dappolitto with two 12 inch eighteen sound drivers in 75 liters each and LT.

Tell Asto he does beautiful work.

I will be happy to oblige 🙂

What horn profile is he using?

He is using a LeCleac'h profile. At the start of the horn the rectangular area follows the LeCleac'h area. He uses a golden ratio between the sides. I believe the curve of top/bottom uses this formula at 0 degrees. From the pictures one can see that the center of the iwata shape is somewhere in the driver area.

But for the sides, I have no clue how he got the two curves to meet.

@Buzzforb, can you elaborate on how you made the matching profile, and make the pieces meet precisely?

Look for Iwata 290s. Just transferred numbers to cad program and did full size layout. If planned well, it can be quite easy, if you are familiar with routers and such. I have almost lost fingetip to router, so me and the router are good friends. Don't want to see what a router will do to fingertip. Got two of the 290 profiles sitting in shop floor. Bigger pain for me was bandsawing curve in nice and neat fashion.

Horizontal dispersion from 0 to 60 degrees:

Asto is a bit surprised by the dispersion is similar horizontally and vertically.

Vertical dispersion from 0 to 60 degrees:

Measurements are done 1 meter from horn which is placed 1,1 meter above floor.

First listening impressions hopefully next week 🙂

Very nice, and well thought jigs. One Hand in the router, the other controlling the circular table-jig… Strong guy 🙂
And nice router (I believe a descendant of the legendary ELU mof 96 router – perhaps “Trend”?)
Very nice polars, too. Could benefit from some kind of (ala Geddes) foam perhaps (regarding what can be seen in the CSD) ?

I have talked to Asto about the dip at 8k, and we believe it is from the start of the horn where top and bottom are paralell for about 4 cm (1 2/3 inch) .

I got a text from Asto reporting that first listening impressions are positive.
