Hi there,

you asked me a while back whether the infocus smartview 3600 SE was any good, well I would say it is quite good, with better specs than the two that you mention above and it also has AV input so you can plug a ps2 / xbox etc into it and quite comprehensive options menu, it runs at 640x480 resolution and max of 1.4 million colours, im sure the 3m one is passive matrix which means it is useless for you, im not sure about the infocus 2600, but I have since given up on projection panels and I bought a very nice lcd monitor which i carefully took apart and have got some nice results from it at a way higher resolution than the smartview 3600, if you are interested in the smartview 3600 that i have please contact me on me what you are willing to pay for it (considering I paid £90+ I would accept £80 or thereabouts).

Regards

Which LCD monitor did you use? What were it's specs wrt reponse time, contrast ratio, resolution and colours? How easy was it to take apart and move the boards etc. from the back? Did you need and extra controller board?

I'm thinking of going down this route next and would love to here about someone else's experience and recommendations (yes..I have read the other threads about this subject too - just trying to obtain as much info and experience as possible 🙂.

I do not know the response time because the documentation dosent mention it, must be 35 or something although it seems faster than my bro's Relisys TL565 which is rated at 35 ms

the controller board was on the back of the lcd panel (sort of stuck on with sticky tape), but being that the wires/cables connecting it is quite long so it is easily movable, there is a flex cable on the top corner connecting the top and side circuits, but the good thing is although at one end the flex cable is soldered - the other end terminates in a connector making it easy to move out of the way, despite a lot of straining and moving the panel and circuits - there seems to be no damage to the cables etc which is testament to the fact that the whole setup is quite flexible and movable without fear of breakage.

Infocus 2600

Hey Getem56,

Where is this panel located. The reason I ask is I have this panel but I have no power supply or cables and I need to find out about the power cable. I need as much info about it as possible. I know mine is a % pin connector

12v
5v
-12v
-5v
and that would be pins 1,2,3,and 5 pin respectfully.

Skoto does that 3600 have the 5 pin connector if so can you get the specs from it for me or the part number etc. it may work for me as well.

I'v been looking for months for this info.

Doug
