Got these hoping to compliment my 1875 Gainclone, they just don't look right to me:
1. Notice Neg bands do not line up
2. Silk screen broken on Chemi-con logo
3. The tops look as if made by hand and are not all round
4. There is an air gap when you press on the tops, maybe as much as 2 MM
Crap! Taking them out now to measure them.

Yes I think they look a little dodgy in my opinion, for the reasons you stated.
There appears to be some sort of glue that seeped out from under the heat-shrink label.
Can you peel a label? Or is it completely glued on?

They do look a bit dodgy.
I tend to buy from reputable dealers.
With ebay or Asia you are taking a risk.

Here is a pic of the tops. I tore two of them up, both had different release patterns stamped on top. Both tops were dented in quite a bit. A waxy substance was used to keep the cover on or to fill the gap. They are the worst caps I have come across. No chance I am powering these up in my home. They are all out. I will use them as fire crackers some day with a long extension cord.
What a waste of money.

That's a shame.
I was researching similar caps and they all look much more "consistent".
Those appear to be hand made. (or made to look like...)

Yes, they do look nice on the listings and the price is right, but the only way to fix these is to put your own caps on like I did. These are from a Cambridge Audio unit that I had laying around. 2200 uF. The board itself is quite nice.

The Chemicon data sheet doesn’t even list 80V as available in the KMG series. Where did you get them?

I got them on eBay and there are quite a few sellers selling the same board (from CHINA) with different caps, so beware. I contacted him to see what he is going to do (100%).
if we complain/report all these fakes or misrepresented goods, then the intermediaries will soon get a database of the disreputable vendors.
They will eventually get struck off the Credit Card listings and from the PayPal listings.
If the main problem is a single or few countries, then maybe the authorities will try to persuade these "countries" to outlaw the fakers.

Interesting ....
The caps appear to be ELNA !

I had bought 10 similar ones but mine are 50V 10000 microfarads and their dimensions are similar to the datasheet. They have the the inconsistent negative band however dont have the other symptoms. One thing I am sure is that they were used ones as they had some residual charge.
