APT power amp transformer issue

I have just finished upgrading a pair of these with matching preamp, and had been listening to them for a couple of hours, configured as mono blocks- they sounded great.

I noticed a little white smoke, and although it was playing fine (with green leds), turned them immediately off.

I opened the one that seemed to produce the smoke, and all looks fine, except for a small pool of what looks like sticky liquid under the transformer (photo's attached).

Does this mean the transformer is getting too hot and will fail at some point?
I have not seen this before

all caps have been replaced as have some transistors, all measures as it should

any thoughts?

I have an apt, and there are definitely smallish electrolytics on the amp boards which is what is in the picture. Unfortunately, it is pretty tight. Maybe you could see in with one of those usb probe cameras. I know when I took mine apart I was amazed how crammed everything was. The P/S caps are at the back of the amp, so I don't think one of those. The P/S board is on top of the caps as you probably know, so not there either. Good luck.
