Hey guys, any tracks I'm playing panned to center are cancelled out. Any tracks panned left or right play normally.
I'm playing music from a laptop with a stereo 1/8'' jack. I have a stereo 1/8'' cable, one end attached to my laptop, the other attached to a mixer via a stereo 1/8'' to 1/4'' adapter. The adapter is plugged into a stereo input on a mixer, which is attached to a mono speaker via a mono 1/4'' cable.
The mixer is taking both the Left and Right channel and allowing me to hear both through my single speaker. However, anything panned to center is cancelled out entirely. Any ideas?
Stereo 1/8'' out --> Stereo 1/8'' cable --> Stereo 1/8'' to 1/4'' adapter --> Stereo mixer --> Mono 1/4'' cable --> Speaker

It appears that you have one channel phase reversed. Check to see if you have one extra inverter or something in one channel.
Just how is the panning accomplished? I'd like to see a diagram of that mixer.

Polarity.
Yes. This is, in fact, the classic test for stereo channels being opposed in polarity. One of your channels is flopped to the other.
