🙄Looking for comments or information on this free turntable that a friend just gave me. My guess is that is something less that top of the line, but you tell me.

I like the way that the mat is designed to rip out the stylus if you miss cue a 7in record!😱
Unfortunately the BSR suspended decks are not very well constructed.
The main bearings are noisy.
The tonearms are hopelessly sloppy.
The record spindle is fixed so rubs on the vinyl as the record plays!
On the last BSR deck that I owned, I constructed a platter mat from a heavy record and some felt. I also rebuilt the arm making my own bearing screws to reduce the built in slop.
Unfortunately the bearing bushes on the main spindle and the tonearm are very loose and you can do little, apart from pack them with grease. The mods do make a surprising difference to these decks, but they are too much of a pigs ear to ever become a silk purse.🙄

I see, and believe. If I want to use any turntable I would need to construct one of the phono pre-amp designs here on DIY audio (which I could certanily do). But it seems that there is verry little in the way of value in this model even if I was to sack the base and the mat and the tonearm ect, on and on. That pile of records will stay, if for no other reason than the cover art.
