Mine has developed a bit of a hum, full story here. Revox G36 noise/hum on recordings. - Tapeheads Tape, Audio and Music Forums
It's still in bits but I have cleaned the switch contacts, is there anything else worth looking at before I reassemble it?

Electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.
Would bad caps in the power supply put noise into the record circuit and not the play back?
It's possible, depending on the circuitry. It would be at a constant 100 Hz hum/buzz.
At any rate, it's due for refreshing.

I decided to assemble it enough to get it running safely, basically without the front cover, it ran beautifully, no noise, recorded lovely with no noise so I let it run for a while. I was sure it was fine, put the front face plate back on and its humming again, sods law.

With the panel off, try touching a wire between various pairs of chassis screw holes
for the panel, to see if it causes hum. Attaching the panel may be causing a ground loop.
