Not trying to stir up a hornet's nest but I've been playing with my old beta 12 LTAs in an econowave style 2.5 cuft cabinet X-overed at anything from 1 - 2 KHz .
Removing the dustcap helped a bit with the chestiness of the driver (sealed up the vented pole piece to keep the cabinet sealed. Crossing over higher, I sense a bit of the usual honk.
I was wondering if anyone had removed the whizzer cones on their beta 12LTAs and found an improvement in the midrange (albeit with the penalty of treble less).
I could just get a pair of regular Beta 12 drivers (or others) but I already have these, so ..
