Anyone compared Tripath DIY amp to First Watt F1/F2/F3?

Hi,

Has anyone compared a Tripath-based DIY amp (SI, 41Hz, Charlize, etc.) to one of Nelson Pass' First Watt F1, F2 or F3 (solid state, class A, SE) amps?

They are both supposed to work very well with high sensitivity and single driver speakers. In fact, the First Watt amps are designed specifically for them.

I have the 41Hz AMP3 running off an SLA battery and it works well with my Lowther DX4-based horn speakers (106dB).

Just wondering what I would get for $1,900-$2,400 more...

Thanks
Deon

Hey Deon,
Very good question, too bad no answers,
Someone on this board did compare the modified Sonic to a Jean Hiraga's "Le Monstre." Was it George, or Brian?
Favorable results. Hiraga desings are much like the Pass designs.

I never heard "Le Monstre" but I knew Jean Hiraga and built a few of his designs. As good as it gets.

A good blind AB test with the Tripath and other highly regarded amps would be very useful. --- Anyone?
