Anybody use Ashly Protea with FIR?

Hello, long time lurker first time poster. I found what seems to be a great deal on an Ashly Pema 4chan amp with Protea processing built in: Ashly Protea Pema 4250.70 4 chan amplifier 8x8 DSP FIR capable Digital Processor | eBay

The processing is 8 in and 8 out. I really don't think I will use the amplifier portion for my set-up. I'm mostly interested in the processor with FIR capabilities. Does anyone have a real world opinion on this unit? I know the Protea stuff gets great reviews for quality and low noise, but I can't find much on this particular model PEMA 4250.70.

Is it worth the asking price for just the DSP section? Any insight would be greatly appreciated before I spend the money.

No direct experience with Ashly FIR.
But I know a guy who sold his NE8800 because FIR used so much of its processing capacity, other functions became hobbled.
I'd check specifically into the FIR capability if possible...maybe email Ashly...

The first document has a summary of this model at the bottom of page 4.

Based on the price new and all the features, I have to think sound quality is probably not very hi fi. Looks like 8-A/Ds and maybe 8 or 16-D/A's (can't quite tell) that's a lot of I/O. Then a Sharc chip, and 4 each 70v output channels. 70-volt systems are mostly used in places where speakers are distributed to provide maybe one full range speaker per so many square feet of coverage area. Might be used in stores, or sports arenas, etc. Probably not for concerts. More for PA and maybe background Musak type uses.

You may be right about the sound quality, but I'd be surprised if it's less than hi-fi.
The Ashly units i have owned have all been top notch.
I do know processing capability is always an issue when hardware FIR is involved, and it's hard info to glean from manuals IME.
That would be my only concern, if playing with FIR is what's driving the purchase.

I think used pro-sound install gear can often be really great value.
Stuff gets pulled from installations..remodels, going out of biz, upgrades, etc..
and often gets dumped wholesale cheap.
I just jumped on used q-sys gear, and so far am loving it...
