I bought a pair of Yamaha NS-8390 a few months ago. They are 3-way bass-reflex floor-standing units. They consist of 8" woofer, 4" mid-range and 7/8" tweeter. Crossover frequencies are 4KHz and 10 KHz. They are rated for 70W and have sensitivity of 89dB. I am using them with a home-designed EL34 PP amp.
I realize that these are relatively cheap speakers at under $200, and that Yamaha is not usually considered one of the "great names" for speakers. I haven't compared them with other types, so I can't really rate them, but they sound pretty good to me. Bass is very strong and they sound "musical".
Does anyone else have an opinion on these speakers?
