What exactly do you mean? Electrolytic capacitors for power supply duty? Non-electrolytic coupling capacitors?
If you're after PSU filtering, my bet is on the industrial grade (RIFA PEH169, Epcos LL, Siemens Sikorel). Excellent capacitors, not cheap though.
Coupling capacitors for cheap. Try polycarbonate capacitors, such as ERO or Philips MKC.

Isn't Amazon flooded with generic Chinese sellers to the point where it's hard to decipher what's genuine and what's not?
I think that's a definite risk, just stick to guaranteed-genuine suppliers like Mouser and Digikey, with free shipping at reasonable limits to overseas destinations, I don't see the point in taking risks.
I also support RS-components since we have a national branch, no problems.

Most competently-made capacitors are good for some purpose in audio, although no cap is good for all purposes. Avoid fakes. Choose the right capacitor technology for the task. Be aware that 'audio' is not a task; 'audio coupling cap' is a task, as is 'digital audio supply rail decoupling cap'; two different tasks so different solutions.
I bought some very low priced Wima capacitors out of curiosity--obviously fakes, but I got a few and cut one open because I just had to see how they managed to get them small enough to fit in those small case sizes that Wima uses. Inside was a bunch of SMD MLCC capacitors soldered together in parallel. If you need quality components for an application, either buy them directly from the manufacturer or from a respectable re-seller.
Amazon marketplace would be about the last place I would consider buying capacitors. Even buying something as simple as a kettle can be fraught with unexpected complications.

Hello
Can we check if a capacitor are fake by using a ESR meter ?
I have a ESR meter.
Btw, I will buy Elna or Panasonic FC capacitor at Digikey.

A measurement may tell you if a component is fake. It cannot tell you that a component is genuine.
You have to trust the seller, and hope he can trust his supply chain.

Amazon is not a reliable source of electronics components, tools, or consumable supplies any longer. You are better off shopping eBay, where at least you know it's offshore and you can pick and choose from sources. eBay's feedback system is also superior to Amazon's.
Just this morning I was doing a price check for Kester 951 flux pens, the reviews indicated they were counterfeits. For a $10 item, that was not even priced any less than from your local bricks-and-mortar store.
Offshore vendors are now even faking the origin, using a spoofed US origin and shipping from China.
Stick with known good suppliers for electronic parts, digikey, mouser, farnell, etc.
Amazon is still a good marketplace for some items, and although there are plenty of shill reviewers there, still the best for at least some reliable reviews of products you are researching a purchase for, but as far as our hobby goes, it's over.

those red Chinese "Audiophiler" caps are among the best I've seen for low ESR plus have good tolerance - whether you like the sound may be another matter. (I tend to like "bad caps" in speaker crossovers - paper dielectric, old KBG, MBO, MBM Russian caps - a bit of Vloss with solid state amplification and horns isn't a bad thing)
I'd love to see s list of fake caps.

I would like to buy a variety of values of silver mica caps for building power amps. Maybe 10 to 20 of most of the main values. Any suggestion of an inexpensive approach to this?

I can start for you:
Pretty much all Black Gates, long out of production, from China are fakes.
But wait, there's more ...

Russian mica caps on eBay, some people swear they're wonderful. I'm not a fan of mica regardless of the source. Russian parts are typically amongst the best I see at anything like a sane price.
