Is it possible to have a general information or something that shows information about what quality playing no matter if it is from audio player or web browser or whatever?
I think it would also be nice to not only get info about the source, but a signal flow chart to show every stage the signal is going through and in what way it is manipulated, e. g. scaled, mixed, resampled, bit- truncated,....
I remember a VST or DirectX plugin called "bitpolice" or similar . There are also some mp3 analyzers that shows You a graph with the frequency bandwidth, so You know what frequencies were discarded during encoding.
Just to make it clear... Are you after: 1. checking 'at will' the characteristics of a music file ? 2. a continuous display of the characteristics of a music file while playing the said file ? For no.1 I'd suggest Mediainfo @ MediaInfo
