I registerd mostly to be able to browse the forum properly.
Sorry to say, I won´t be able to contribute much due to lack of knowlege.
I view myself as an intellectual DIY:er. I´m more interested in knowing how and why than actually building something.
You´ll never know though, knowlege is an easy burden and some day I might.

You have to be very careful. diy is like a drug. Once you try it you might just end up addicted. 😉

I must say that there is a big difference between knowing and having built and knowing. Experience can be the truest form of knowledge.
I hope you are tempted to put something together at some point. 😉

Johan,Thank you for the comment about being an "intellectual DIYer" I understand completely. For a whole range of reasons (finance,health,time etc) I don't do enough constructing but I do like understanding the mechanisms involved (and fantasying and what I'll eventually build). Also the advantages of doing audio this way is that you can enjoy thinking about it anywhere, its cheap, doesn't annoy the neighbours/wife/kids etc, doesn't require a system. you can enjoy it when you go deaf. "Intellectual DIY, the way of the future!" A lot to be said for this approach!
