I'm looking to upgrade my chipamp.com snubber power supply.
Taking a few ideas from -
Nationals App Notes (notice the resistor to 'case connection' 🙄 )
and
AUDIOPHILE AMPLIFIER POWER SUPPLIER
I've come up with the attached.
Linky
I've used HFA08TB60 over MUR860 diodes in the bridge. Simulating the same circuit with the different bridge diodes - the HFAs' give slightly better efficiency (34.3v against 34v - at the output) . Using the THD tool in the simulation software I can see the MUR version gives THD ~ 15% against ~ 2.5% for the HFAs' (22k load). This makes me think the HFAs' are theoretically better than the popular MURs', though i haven't compared them in the real world.
I was planning to use ceramic bypass caps on the bridge but whats recommended for the filter caps and the snubber ? Also are bleed resistors strictly necessary, as I notice that a lot of designs don't included them..
