This is not true, my machine with 2k professional runs without any problems what so ever. I have had it on for about 3weeks now without turning it off. Stable as a pot of xenon.

Here is a good one.. Now why would i want to go out and buy a p4 2gig and up and wun windows xp or 2k and have a antivirus software run in the back ground useing up system resources and slow the computer down. It just makes no sence to buy a computer and then install software to protect it Firewall yeahh i can understand but viruses why.. I have a mac and dont need any of this junk installed i just turn it on do what i need to do and it works perfectly fine..
you surf the net on a peecee or get email or have it on the internet your just looking for trouble and problem i just love it when i go to peoples houses and usee there pg gig machine and it is slower than molasses.. so i either do a online scann for virues and 90% of the time it is infected with some crap. then i install and run ad-a-ware and remove all the spy ware.. Humm NOW you tell me why would i want a peecee and do this. Do i need norton/ any av soft on my mac
do i get any viruses yeah sure do the hurt me NOPE!! do i surf the net hell yeah i spend more time on the net than any thing reading and surfing do i get popups NOPE why because i use safari it has auto block pop up built in. i use mail i get any junk mail i bounce it i dont need to run any application to help me bounce it.. and ect i can list more than one reason to buy a mac.. i used to love peecee i only use one if it is not connected to the net or it is lunux/unix.
there is my say in the war between mac/peecee..
an if you guys really want to see up time ill post my uptime mark from my mac and well it wil beat all of yuors..
i only need to reboot if it is a system IMPORTANT update that is it..

PCs are no cheaper than macs... you can buy cheaper ones but they are cheaper... when you price comparable units they are really close price wise (at least until you have to account for maintenance costs and then the mac starts getting cheaper). And this doesn't take into consideration that the useful life of a Mac is approx double that of a PC. (ie typically you buy 2 PCs during the lifetime of a Mac)

Well if we argueing this out. I dont have any protection sorftware on this PC, I have had it since a 900Mhz was considered fast and its ran fine ever since, yes its had changes made as in new hard disk a new format etc as the PC use was altered from a games machine to music centre. But bottom line, this setup is very stable and does everything I want it to.
We upgrade the main PC when it no longer runs computer games that we (me and bro) want to play. As it happens this 900mhz 256 ram and a voodoo 3 2k graphics card actually run every game that I want to play. Its my bro that spends his pennies on a faster machine. But this machine had lasted a good 3/4 years before it was upgraded to a 2.8gighz with a top spec geforce. Now that plays everything now and will do for another few years, by then he will probably upgrade again. This PC will also keep serving me well for the next few years until something breaks and forces an upgrade as a replacement part probably wont exist then.
A good PC that is set up correctly is no better I dont think then a well configured MAC. Yes there are exceptions to this case but on the whole I think its personal preference. I like PC's and I always will, a MAC user will swear by MAC's and tend to stear away from PC's.

Could it be that the mac lasts twice as long as a PC in the same lifetime, because the PC is always evolving and offering the latest updates and system enhancements... while the Mac lays far behind? ;-) hehe

the mac is really for the layman who wants a machine to point click and that's it (personal opinion 🙂 ). You can't tweak it as much as you can a PC, interchange parts, etc...

Well, that never was just it. They have always been used in creative fields of art, publishing, video and audio.
Now that they have a Unix OS, they are the best of all worlds:
A point and click for those who want
A creative tool
An analytical tool
A number cruncher
A wonderful server base
And, you can open the bonnet (of the software) and everything is beautifully situated and catalogued.
It's like comparing a Ford with a BMW or Audi. No disrespect for the Ford, but it's just not in the same league.
