Hi, I'm a new member here with some basic questions on a DIY power amp. First....anybody have experience with the Analog Metric china kits? I'm looking at their kit that has two TDA chips on one board, BTL, and provides up to 100wpc. The kit contains two mono boards. I was hoping to pair ir with a split rail power supply, single transformer, for a big power amp to power some (inefficient) 3 way speakers in restomodding. Second, assuming one of their adjustable split rail power supplies would be suitable, what torodial transformer would fit the bill? I don't expect super whiz bang results, just want to build a nice classic style power amp to drive my speakers ok. Oh, if it matters....my speakers are Optimus sts-100 3 ways, 87db, 50wrms 100max. I'm upgrading the 8 inch woofers to Dayton Audio Dc200s from parts express. Thanks for tolerating noobie stuff 🙂

I do believe they offer just the boards for that kit. The Passion 15 MKII kit in also eyeballing has just boards available too..hmm... I'm just curious if they're quality enough as shipped to get me started in DIY and if they'll do well with my speakers.

they make gorgeous pcb, but the parts in there kit are not match, so you will end up replacing (rematching) a lot of it...

i have assemble 3 of those kit with amazing result...

Looks nice. I'm on the hunt for a pre right now. Quasar Electronics has a multi input pre with tone controls all on one board I may try. The alternative is another Fisher CC3000 that's currently part of my Fisher System 8500 we are restoring. (My kid brother is doing a full rebuild on the BA6000 power amp.) Thanks for the pic. My Brother has a few other BA6000s that are blown up.that same amp board might be a nice piece to update one of them just for fun! Gears are grinding....

my balanced pre has something like 22 db of gain so to taylor my sds 258 perfectly i use fix resistor to control the gain on the amp... In my setup i use 15 kilo ohm

here is the list they (classdaudio) provide me with:

For those who wish to change the pots for fixed resistors, here are resistor values to produce required gain. Gain is listed in dB: To change gain potentiometer to a fixed resistor, you would connect a fixed resistor between the yellow and black wires on the gain controls. Leave the red wire disconnected.

560 Ohm = 31 dB

1K = 30 dB

2.2K = 27 dB

5.2K = 23 dB

6.2K = 18 dB

7.5K = 16 dB
