This is probably going to sound like a newbie question but I can’t find the answers searching the web
If you are running a active setup with tweeters that have a rating of say 120w
And you have power amps rated at say 200w
Is there any danger in damaging the tweeter in the real world or is this safe to do ?
If no is it more sensible of using a amplifier of the max rating of the speaker

Most domestic listening is done at power levels less than one tenth of the wattages you state.
Unless you are talking about a PA application, you should be in no danger of overloading your tweeters.
Also, depending on the crossover frequency, tweeters only receive around 10 to 20% of the total power in the music being reproduced.

Hopefully you'll hear it if you're running it too hard. If there is a fault with the amplifier you could have a problem. Also watch for thumps when you switch it.
