I am looking for an amplifier kit that will run on a supply of +/- 65V DC, i have a big old Sony TA8650 but the V-fet power amps are blown
I like the preamplifier in it and would like to use it as an intergrated amplifier

I have the same problem with my old pioneer. Same rail voltages.
the output transistors are good, but the driver board is kaput. This big old bastard had fried many a speaker.
I had the sony vfet amp for a short time. Sounded wonderful, but dad would not let me keep it (1000 bucks is too much for a high school student). So I bought a Nakamichi tape deck (still works well).
I'm working on using the national semi driver chip newly developed to drive the output transistors. should be quite compact. I'm trying this to reduce distortion and part count and get the bastard working for a bench amp.
Those amp kits look awesome, but may not fit in the existing case.
Perhaps my solution may work for you. Interested?

Fortunately there is a lot of room inside the Sony to fit two of these hefty buggers.

Have you thought of using digital modules like coldamp. . .they run
on these high voltage rails. There are many kit/module amp kits
currently.
I have been researching similar issues. . .I toasted my
Yamaha M-45 (adjusting the bias, dropped clip lead onto exposed
jumpers). I am trying to keep the front meter panel, power supply,
heat sinks and all associated parts except the amp section. Same
issue. . . the high voltage rails. . . the Yamaha puts out +/- 64 VDC.
Almost too much for most modules, but. . .

I have been looking at the aussie amplifier kits myself, the NX150 fits the bill in most ways, i have emailed them to see if it will run safely on +/- 65v DC,
i suspect it will only be the decoupling caps etc that will need changing but i will wait and see what they say
I have no interest in digital amps being an analogue fan myself.
The prices are all very reasonable for the aussie, ska and ILP amps but i do not know how ILP comapre on sound or reliability.

After a quick check
NX400NL runs on +/- 75 VDC to +/- 85 VDC rails!
The NX150 Amplifier uses +/- 56 VDC to +/- 63 VDC rails!
Maybe a slight alteration to the power supply will result in
a closer match. . . and extra RC network should drop the voltage enough.

I checked with aussie amplifiers and the NX-150 will safely run up to +/- 70v DC so i have taken the plunge and ordered two of the kits.
I will let you know how i get on with them

I just cleaned out the shell of my M-45 in preparing it for installation
of the Aussie Amps. . . Rewired the power supply caps and rectifier. .
working on front power meter and LEDs. . . it will be good to see
pictures of your shell and prep work!

Well I got my two NX-150 Kits, nicely presented easy to follow instructions.
But on my Boards R28 does not exist at all so i am presuming this to be a modification
also i could not find R13 (10 Ohms 5 watt wire wound) at all, but i do have 4 x 10 Ohm 1 watt resistors that do not fit anywhere.
Has anyone else come across this?

hi,
if you want some thing of good sound and quality, choose up only bipolar amp kits,
take a look at the big big amps they don't use fets, only bipolar transistors.
make your choice very carefully, most of the kits are fets because is very easy to design such amps.
