Amp to drive the bass speakers.

Hello!

I have the stock TA 10.1 and the Squeezebox 3 and these speakers, http://www.phonar.de/Veritas_p5.htm

The sound is extremly good untill i play som rock, then it sounds flat and boring.

I Believe its the power from the TA 10.1 that is the big problem in this situation, and also maybe the speaker sensitivity.

I am thinking och buying the TA 10.1 Ultra Edition från audiomangis and sell my stock amp.

But then even with the modded version i think the bass will be to "soft"

So i wonder maybe i should by like icepower or hypex module and build amps to drive the bass in my speakers.

I realy like the midrange and the upper frequensis of this little amp so i will use it my system a long time.

Do you have any recomendation in amps i should use for the bass?

Best Regards David

I don't think that your speakers are the problem....
D Amps are notorius known for their flat and boring sound (some more than others)....

I use D amps (Coldamp BP4078) my self, but only for the woofers/basses, as I have participated in so many D Amps listining test, and never heard one that could reproduce mids and tweets half as good as a siple class A/B Amp

😉

Okej, i used a tube amplifier before this lite amp, Octave V40 With EL34 tubes, and it sounded verry good.

Gigantic soundstage och great bass, but the little TA 10.1 sounded more detailed than this tube amp.

If i only get the same soundstage and the same bass as the octave i will be satisfied.

So thats wy i thinking maybe i should use a separate amp for the bass in my spekeakers and se what that can do.

If that doesn't help it, i need to sell my TA 10.1 and look for something else i think.

Do you people have any recomendations about amps that are good to power the bass element with.

I am looking much into the hypex or the ice power chips.

Best Regards DAvid

I have not heard one but every review & opinion i have read online about the tripath amps have said the mids and highs were the best part about these amps, and i have not heard anything about them being flat or boring, i was going to go for a ta-10 but some things i have read have put me off now.

Considering the price, i haven't heard anything in this price range that is better than this little amp.

I think i am trying to test the modified version first, and if this not fix the problem i can use it as my computer audio amp or to my bedroom system 😀
