Heya guys,
I Have made a portable sound system in the past, with the help of my father when i was 15 and it prooved very successfull, but he is now on the other side of the world so I'm gonna need your guys help as I'm 16 and fairly ameture on this front!
I'm looking at building myself a decent sized boombox probbably around 60-70CM long and 30CM deep. I'm looking at making it portable, using 12V halfsize car batteries. I'd like it to be pretty loud as the first time I'm looking at using it is at gatherings, house parties so an option to plug it into the mains would be handy. I have no problems building the casing for it, cutting the holes etc, but I am very weary on which components to buy. I'm looking at getting hopefully 2-3 hours of music at a good volume from this thing with fairly heavy bass and decent enough mids and tweets.
What I'm really getting to is If you can help me by perhaps posting some well known amp brands that i can put inside my box, good quality but fairly priced subs/mids/tweets, and recomendations on the woods to use for the box, To do's and not to do's, what to stay away from etc and any genoral tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks fellas!
Harrison.
