Hi from Australia, lve just found this great site and am really impressed with the quality of imformation and opinions that are voiced in the forums. l have seen a few of the "l want a 4000watt amp for my car and dont want to spend any money and will do it my self " type questions and loved reading the answers about the amperage that would be needed, banks of caps, multiple battery racks ect. One of my early experiences was with a "Harmon /k citation 13 amp"(l think thats what it was called?) and it had somthing like 10w rms, but l was blown away by how detailed it was and also how loud it was! It was my fathers and he keeps in the garage on a shelf(in a box) for one of his yet to do "projects" that never seem to come about.....strange thing is l seem to have started to gather a few of my own "projects" to do "one day" aswell........? ANYWAY....the thing l learnt was you dont always need thousands of watts to be loud and l also found that listening to "clean and clear" makes me smile , not wince! So thanks people for taking the time to reply and thanks to the people who made this site!!!
If you shop smart, I might even add; you will never need even one thousand watts to be loud.

There is always that annoying issue of quality, too. And how few manufacturers rate their power the same way (that is getting better).
Two things in mobile audio:
1) You are close to the speakers
2) It is a poor acoustic environment & usually works as a near field for all but the bass, and then you are in the cab.
And loud is log.
My first nice amp was a HK Citation 12. Yep, it is in my basement; a future “project.”
