Please let me know, if anyone before me , made or even proposed such idea. Here it is:
Instead of making a box for a sub, why not take 3 or 4 Aluminum Wheel Rims, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Enkei-RAIJIN...&sprefix=wheel+rim+japan+racin,aps,206&sr=8-6
stack em on each other, connect them together with five titanium rods in these wholes in the middle of the rim.........and voila!
We have the Beast. 18 inch woofer can sit on top of such DIY -ultra-sophisticated, hand-made, painstakingly manufactured by artisanal passionate engineers, blah blah work of art!
We can damp the whole thing inside using alpaca wool bags of salt or expanded polystyrene - very lightweight.
What will be the weak sides of such construction? Aside from WAF and industrial vibe? But can be veneered, hm?

The weak side of using 3 or 4 wheels instead of a single pipe or tube is the extra work in sealing and connecting them, and thicker walls than needed for the pressures involved.Instead of making a box for a sub, why not take 3 or 4 Aluminum Wheel Rims, stack em on each other, connect them together with five titanium rods in these wholes in the middle of the rim.........and voila!

Dave Rat's SDS-30 ported subs built in 2015 use 30" Powersoft M Force woofers, aluminum pipe or tube is used for the cabinet's interior wall.
Their front has a kind of wheel-like appearance.
Price...four at $250 is one grand wasted.4 Aluminum Wheel Rims, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Enkei-RAIJIN...&sprefix=wheel+rim+japan+racin,aps,206&sr=8-6

Oh, I thought they were WAY cheaper (price did not show when I checked)
I find the available space too small for a subwoofer, and the high cost per cubic foot does not invite to stack a dozen per side.
Of course the space age looks would be invaluable.
I wouldn´t worry too much about edge to edge sealing, aquarium approved silicone sealant should work well for that.

If some nicks and bruises can be tolerated, it should be fairly easy to find 4 used rims at the local car wrecker for less than 200 euro. I once paid 100 euro to grab 4 rims like this one from a wrecked BMW, they are fairly devalued when they have even minor scratches but on a project like this they may add character. The only major drawback I see is the weight.
Most people grab a few steelys and weld them together for a potbelly fire... but using mag wheels for a subbox Pawel-Athens your on another level thats awesome!
Suppose you could always buy blank rims for the center ones or cut the center out, could weld them too, the end plate might be a little tricky

FWIW U$75 buy 8 feet 18" diameter concrete pipes.
Very non resonant and rigid walls, acoustically perfect.

Can you send some links to the shops selling it? I would need to use ebay and pay like 300% of their value for shipping...FWIW U$75 buy 8 feet 18" diameter concrete pipes.

in my country its pain in the Azzzz with such things
As usual, people mentioning "my Country" never ever state WHICH one it is 😉in my country its pain in the Azzzz with such things
Which makes questions impossible to answer 🙄 😎

Isn't it about time we went back to having a members country flag displayed? As usual, people mentioning "my Country" never ever state WHICH one it is 😉

Australia suffers from being so far from everywhere [ except perhaps Indonesia and Malaysia ] that freight costs double prices and then we pay import taxes.
Import taxes are only 10% which is fair but we also pay tax on the cost of shipping which isn't.
Concrete sewer pipe is rapidly being replaced by plastic so cardboard formwork is the better option perhaps?

- Am I the first on this Forum to suggest such subwoofer, very unique (and cheap, at least comparing to HighEnd) cabinet?
