Alternative to Onkyo SE-200 PCI

I sold my old Onkyo card and looking something similar for good sound with the PC.
Can someone please recommend me some internal and external sound card?

I would like to recommend the Asus Essence STX II : Essence STX II | Sound Cards | ASUS Global
There is also a version with a daughterboard to get 7.1 output: Essence STX II 7.1 | Sound Cards | ASUS Global
I would consider getting the 7.1 version because it doesn't cost that much extra, and more outputs can be nice to have.

For people with a Budget: The Essence STX II is as a used Card still on a pretty high & stable Price Niveau, while the Xonar Xense and the Xonar D2X often go for 30-40 €/$.

The Asus D2X is a very good card as well, I have two of them in my HTPC.
Too bad Asus stopped making it.

 

[Clueless but avid]

A D2X in Combination with EQ APO is feeding my active Speakers. Rerouted the Channels to 3 left, 3 right, 1 Subwoofer and I'm pretty happy with it, even as I'm (as a DIY-Audio Newbie) just scratching on the Surface of the Features & Possibilities which are waiting to be explored & tested 😉.
