Helle everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience overhouling Altec 515b's I have the opportunity to buy 2 or 4 frames at a good price, I would like to know the cost, who do you recomend to do it and what does it cost.
Thanks in advanced for your thoughts and opinions.

Check with Great Plans Audio. They bought all the Altec tooling and know all about Altec. The 515 is a GREAT woof.
If you have a use for them, they are very much worth re-coning--possibly the best upper-bass to upper midrange driver there ever was. However, be aware that they need a very big box or an expensive and huge horn to make enough bass for home hi-fi if unequalized or used without a sub-woofer: I am talking 20+ cubic foot refrigerator sized enclosures.
If you can't use them, buy them anyway and pass them along to someone who can.

Hi David that's one of my concerns, I do have horns i agreed to buy from the same person, they are 511s and 811s to horns are not going to be the issue but the cabinets will, I am scared of the refrigirator size, i do want to have an agressive speaker though one that will have those horns staring at you, but if i can go smaller on the cabinet I would prefer that instead, so thx for that input
If I remember correctly GM suggested 3.2 Cu ft for midbass 515B down to 80Hz if you don't have the space for 20 cu.ft. and use a sub below. Yes , GP is the place to buy replacements but beware the speakers won't sound the same as vintage units and resale value will be probably less than cost involved. (which probably doesn't matter much here).Original units go for big money now ;(
I called GP yesterday, it cost 117 to recone them plus my shipping plus shipping back to me about $180 total each plus my original cost so it's not pocket change to me, anyway i found these speakers that i like i am researching them because.... they have enouph tooth and delicate to my wife
