I have found an "E" in the 89 brochure.

So the D may have been somewhere between 1975 amd 1989.

Regards,

Geoff.

Edit, try asking in the Altec Lansing forum under Loudspeakers. Cal or GM may have some info.

Geoff, That's a good site, thanks.

burnedfingers, I agree, the 409's I had were nothing special, but very efficient. Don't know which version I had, too many years ago. I believe the surround was paper and the tweeter was mounted across the front of the basket not the pole piece. Nice Altec green colour though. 😉

This is the "hi-fi" version out of the Atlantic. Same magnet and basket structure as the 409. I don't know why, but these have a ferrite type rear pole plate.

Not the best 8-incher made. Better if you cross to a bigger woofer at 100 Hz or so. These have had a bit of cone treatment to fix the top end.

Geoff.
