Hello to forum,
I'm looking at putting an old CD player into operation. This is a CD player that came in late 80's in BMW's. It was called a Alpine TR-1008. It is visually similar to the Alpine 5950, but I can not confirm that they are internally identical.
For the moment, I'd like to at the very least, put a fresh belt onto the unit.
I see that this is a toothed belt, and I'm hoping someone who's got experience repairing audio equipment might point me in the right direction to source a replacement belt for this.
I'm also unable to find a service manual for the unit. Any suggestions?

Did you look up the service manual for the equivalent alpine changer to see if the mechanism was the same?
That belt looks like it's in good condition. Those types of belts generally don't stretch.

RE: belt & Sx manual.
I’d love to find a service manual for either a Alpine TR-1008, as my unit is labeled, or, Alpine 5950 which “visibly” matches mine.
The belt is “OK” looking, but I’d love to be thorough and sort of refurbish whatever I can before putting this into service. Manufactured in 1989, it’s literally 30 years old.
It’s going into a collectible car of the eta, I’d like to maintain period correct equipment or ancillaries if you will.
Thanks for responding. Appreciate help.

$17. Is it worth that?
I'd suggest that you should make sure that the changer is otherwise working before replacing parts. Gears crack, laser pickups fail for various reasons. Even if it works initially, it may have other problems that show up after playing for a short time.

Public Thank You
Perry,
Thank you very much for taking the time to post up a site that does in fact seem to have a service manual for my CD changer. I will certainly buy it to have it and be ready if need be.
The TR-1008 is made by Alpine, but labelled BMW brand..... Obviously BMW wasn't designing and building their own proprietary changers. Visually, the 5950 is a clone, but some advertising from Alpine back in the day refers to this player as having been one of the first to use fiber optic cables for data transfer. The BMW version of the changer certainly doesn't, the BMW HU that operates the Changer certainly doesn't, but perhaps the Alpine HU that matched the Alpine unit back in the day had those features to communicate with other electronic items like tuners, equalizers that were the rage or crossovers. Don't know.
I see you have a tutorial on repair of amps. I'm going to be putting an older ADS unit into service, and I may open it up as well for visual inspection prior to installing it.
You are absolutely right about mechanical issues. I'm a bit weird in some of my hobby stuff. As I'm "restoring" this car, some aspects I want as authentic to the period as possible. I'd like to be able to play CD's off the HU. Its a convertible, I don't want someone looking in through a window, seeing a gaudy and out of place possibly valuable HU to temp theft....damaging the soft top or dash to steal it.
I've bought two of these changers in order to be more likely to assemble a complete one if there are mechanical issues.
I tried to PM you in person to thank you for your help, this will have to do.
