Alpair 11MS Linear-Quadrupole

It will not work as well in room. This is designed as a bit of fun and a tribute to the EPI 1000 Tower. It is an omnipole. It is not meant to be a monitor.

By moving the side drivers to the front and back you increase the bipole dip and add the (likely) need for at least a LP on one of the drivers on the front greatly compicating things.ats y

The alignment will work as you are suggesting to build them, but it defeats the purpose and complicates the build.

If i was even considering something like you suggest i would place 2 pn the front and 2 on the side, but that XO is still likely needed. This one will not need to be way out in the room as the others need. Maybe 1 on front, 2 on one side, one on the other. But that sounds like a mess.

If you want to use 4 A11ms in a different configuration i expect that, it would be able to come up with something less compromised than the Quadrapole.

Thanks, Dave.

My plan is to use SE tube amp to drive the loudspeakers. So, I'd like to have better efficiency while keeping 8 ohm impedance.

I'm using Quad ESL63 with pushpull amp but sometime I want to enjoy SE amp with full range loudspeakers 🙂

Perhaps the di-pole is a better choice? I may have to build SE amp with 4 ohm output tap, though. 😀

Is there any particular reason you are considering dipoles?

I would consider Dave's Alpair 12PW + 7MS combo from post #6 here
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/alpair-12p-and-helper-design-question.297519/

Or a dual 12PW version of the Nanotyrannus WAW shown in post #415 here

Or even an Alpair-based Tysen using the 12PW on the side and a 7MS on the front described in posts #62 and #70 here.

For some reason, dipole speakers (Quad and Open Baffle) work pretty well in my listening room (not the best acoustic 😀). Quad is driven by Pushpull amps, and OB is a bi-amp setup. So, I want to try an SE amp with full-range speakers with a similar configuration.

Thank you for your suggestions for other interesting designs. I'll look into those.
