I am going to build my first pass diy project after reading these forums for a year now. i am going to build the aleph P 1.7 with the 1.0 volume control plus add a remote and a display for the selected input.
My first question is with the power supply ......... should i use 2 power supplies, one for left and one for right?
Is there anything to be gained from this? left-right isolation, clarity?
My next 2 questions are on the pwr. supp. circuitry:
What is the value of R121 under Q25?
What is the power ratings on all of the zeners in this circuit?
It looks to that a 1 watt zener diode will work for all of these am i right?

wow nice pictures!
I don't yet have a board but am planning on prototyping the circuit first and then getting the boards.
R121 is right below Q25 of the pwr supply where the 14v display board connects just below the relay voltage connect (aleph P 1.7). It is from the aleph P 1.7 service manual on passlabs.com

What parts sound good? audiophile at percy, parts connexion ect. or just digikey and mouser?

Maybe ill pitch some money towards your way to get a board made too..

yes for left/right i have no digtal stuff on mine pre amp. i've build ( still building) the power supply in a differend case. the case of the preamp it self is in a 19" case and is not yet ready i only need to fit a 4 deck attenuator and a source select switch and the left pcb and the connectors at the back of the housing. alot to do i think first i'am on holliday to rimini italy.
I'm also strting with a aleph p 1.7. The mainboard layout is fisished. (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=207119#post207119).
The controls consist of an ATMEGA163, a 4x20 lcd, a volume and input rotary encoder and an iR-eye. Layout finished, not testen and the firmware is not ready yet.
The input selector and volume control relay boards and power supplies must still be designed.

ok i have decided to layout the circuit in a mirror fashion, left on one side and right on the other and therefore use two power supplies. Wow total channel seperation!!!!! I have just ordered the two toriods from avel lindberg Y23 Range 30va 30+30.
