My AIWA NSX-V70 cd player is working intermittently.
The sled goes back to the center to read the directory after moving it manualy away from the center.
I can't affirm if it returns to the correct inital position, but it looks that the initial point is reached by the pickup (that is new!).
Observing the behavior of this unit i noticed that:
1st: trying to read 3 differents cds at the carousel, one of them is never read. Even if changing the cd's position at the carousel this one is never read (it's doesn't appear to be a cd problem because it plays in other cd players)
2nd: the reading of the others 2 cds directory is intermitent. In 3 of 5 attempts it's read.
3rd: Only in one attempt the directory was read, displayed and the first track played correctly
4th: Always after the directory is read and displayed the pickup produces a continuous noise while sppining. I think it's trying to tracking. And at this point i was surprised, because for 6 times (after several seconds trying to tracking) the unit played the cd.
5th: In this 5 times, only twice the 1st track was played (after several seconds trying to tracking). For 4 times i had to skip the track using the remote control to force the sled to move to the middle, to the end and finnaly to the inner center of the disk to the pickup be able to tracking, focusing and playing the cd.
6th: none of the cd's played all the tracks without losing the tracking (i suppose). In all the attempts during the playback the audio was mutted several times and the tracking process started again. In most of the attempts it got tracking, but for tree times after muting it begun trying to tracking ad-infinitum.
7th: always when i tried to change track while playing the cd, it lost the tracking, never unmuted and the tracking sound could be heard in all the times.
Any suggestion about this amazing problem?
I've already checked the points below for intermittent or erratic operation , but no success:
1. Dirty, scratched, or defective disc. -------> NO
2. Dirty lens. -------> NO. IT'S NEW
3. Extended length discs too long for player. -------> NO
4. Loading (mechanical) not completed reliably. -------> ???
5. Bad connections including missing/erratic optical deck shield. -------> I THINK NOT
6. Cracks in ribbon cable to optical pickup. ------> NO
7. Dirty drawer or limit switches. ------> DRAWER IS CLEAN. LIMIT SWITCH APPEARS OK.
8. Power supply or logic problems. -------> ???
9. External interference. -------> NO

Spin Motor...
How old and how frequently the player is used?
If the player has erratic behavior at the start of the CD, then the spin motor bush might be worn out. Try lubricating it. If this reduces the problem, u have to change the spin motor. But beware, the CD height could be difficult to attain/adjust.
