I like the Aikido and always thinking about using 4P1L for the his circuit in pint to point wiring.
Is that a bad idea?
Do you suggest all four tubes with 4P1L or 4P1L mix with other tube for better result? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Won't the fact that it's a directly heated tube (no cathode) as well as a pentode (could be triode strapped?) make it not suitable for an Aikido? Have a look at the K&K Audio line stage using this tube: http://www.kandkaudio.com/single-ended-line-stage-preamps/

First both tentlabs and Rod Coleman offer heater supply for DHT tubes. Also, this is my fault not making it clear the tubes will be wired in triode.
Hi Frankie,
Steve's suggestion (post #3) of Kevin Kennedy's 4P1L Line amp is good, or you could look at the Bartola Valves "Siberian" design.
Numerous other well-tested variations appear on the 4P1L Line stages thread, using 4P1Ls or 2P29Ls.
All of these have been built around the world with 4P1Ls, and will give better sound than "Aikido" , IMHO. This Aikido design adds tubes and complexity to the signal stages, to avoid filtering the power supply... but filtering is now easy and low-cost to do.

Sure I'll leave the Aikido with 4P1L alone. But I am curious how come no one use EF86 in triode Aikido??
BTW, the Bartola Siberian I'd under consideration but it is quite strange (see attachment)
T
he potentiometer is show wired back to front. The wiper should go to the tube and R3. And the input should be at the top of P1

Putting EF86 into aikido circuit would need 8 tubes for the L and R channels. And since the purpose of the circuit is to cancel power supply ripple, the EF86s at the bottom would need to be curve-matched (not just current-matched) or the cancellation may be poor. The circuit in Steve's post might work better, but there are many much simpler and better ways to make a line stage than either of these.
