Aftermarket Stereo - Dash / Illumination opposite issue

Hi,

I just bought and installed a after market android stereo for my car..

All was easy to install (plug n play harness)..

But I am assuming the wire harness was incorrect..

My problem is (although it's not really that bad - but I'd like to try resolve it), when I turn up my vehicles dash illumination dial / switch, the dash / air con lights etc brighten, but the stereo illumination lights darken or go off..
Then when I turn the illumination dial down, my stereo brightens up..

I've been browsing the net for hours trying to find forums etc with answers, but have not come across any..

Would anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Sometimes radios have different settings for brightness, depending on wether the car light is switched on or off (Pioneer for example). My radio illumination goes down when I switch the light of the car on.

Try to adjust the illumination of the radio once without car light on and a second time with car lights on. Maybe your radio will store it.

There is nothing associated with the illumination circuit that would cause the radio to switch off.

Links to head unit, wiring harness and post make/model of vehicle?

Hi Perry,
I edited my post..
When I said 'stereo darkens or goes off', I meant the illumination lights of the stereo darkened or went off..

The head unit is just a generic android stereo with a facia for an Isuzu D-Max, I bought it off AliExpress..
QZ industrial 2G 16G 8inch Android 6.0 for CHEVROLET S10 ISUZU D MAX Car DVD player with Radio Navigation GPS 3G 4G Wifi BT Map-in Car Multimedia Player from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group
Attached is the wiring harness, with D-Max at the top, the Android harness at the bottom..
Where you see wire #13 'ACC 2 Cut', this is because the wire was looped with wire #4 'ACC', but it was causing a problem where my parking lights would always be on, when the stereo was turned on..
I read on a forum that someone had this 'parking light' issue, cut the wire, and it stopped happening (which is what happened for me too, when I did it - but he didn't have this illumination issue)..

From the car to the Android, it is a 16 socket harness, then the Android harness goes to a 20 socket harness (only 18 sockets filled), that plugs into the head unit..
The two extra wires from the head unit to the harness connect directly to my reverse camera..

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I only just saw this..I will have to check..

But I have done some digging, and found this wire diagram of my vehicle, from their workshop electrical trouble shooting manual..

The harness diagram I put up the other day is incorrect..

The original vehicle diagram is below..

The harness diagram below, is of my vehicle at the top, and the head unit at the bottom..

So as said earlier, the harness that came with the head unit had an ACC looped in ports 4 and 11, resulting in my parking lights being on continuously when the ignition was on (no way of turning off)
So I cut that loop, only leaving the ACC in port 4.
This left me with the dash light dial dimming problem.

I am no auto electrician etc, but by looking at the wiring diagram, to fix this dimming dial problem, would I:

1. Place the ILL wire in port 11?
or
2. Create a looped ILL wire and place it in ports 3 and 11?
or
3. Do something else?

Thanks in advance 🙂
