Hi Audio Martyrs,
I am after some recommendations for well documented designs for a pair of workhorse, but good quality 2 way speakers. They're won't be my main listen, but are for my workshop where I find myself spending more and more time!
My criteria:
-To be driven by my recently built Rod Elliott P3A (50-100wpc depending on who one talks to)
-Cost no greater than USD$600 all in.
-Fabrication not an issue.....have good electronic & cabinetry skills
-Less than .05 cubic meters volume.
Any pointers greatly appreciated and will post pics when finished. Am thinking thickly veneered in Tasmanian Blackwood!!
Cheers, Wulumay

Possible placements will help narrow it down from the hundreds of good designs within your volume allowance. What about dust/fume issues in your shop? How loud in how big a room?
also, what speakers have you enjoyed in the past? We all love giving advice, help us give you advice that you'll be happy about down the road.
Have fun with it, David

Hello! Maybe take a look at my Dayton Mini Monitors. They require very small space, but still go quite low and sound wonderful. I have a full guide and parts list here:

Thanks everyone for your replies.
David, to answer your questions:
Dust/Fumes, not an issue. I've invested in the best possible ventilation system due to health requirements:-(
It's a large space and an acoustical nightmare. Am just looking for something for near-field listening. Headphones are impractical for my requirements.
Re speakers I have enjoyed.....where to start? My first set was a pair of Mordaunt-Short bookshelf speakers that I bought for 100 pounds when I was 17. They're still going strong in my study with my NAD 10wpc amp bought at the same time.
My main domestic listen is a Monitor Audio setup. Only reasonable sounding, but they look nice (domestic peace requirement).
For my 40th birthday, a well regarded audio engineer friend made me a D'Appolito/sub setup, which I reckon is the best I've ever heard.....big call.
I still like the Mordaunt-Shorts for sentimental reasons. 100 pounds was a lot to a 17 year old!
I've just realised (with a 'z' for you David) that none of the above is remotely DIY. I do make my own instruments and amps though!
Thanks again all for your advise.

Let me try again. It's a big space but you want a near-field monitor? 50 liters or 5? On a table, on a wall, on floor/stands? If they are on your worktable in your face you will need to have very little or no bafflestep correction, which will narrow your choices a bit(you did say you wanted a finished design, and once you start fiddling with a design without a discrete bsc circuit, you might as well start from scratch).
So, big or small, and where in the room? We seem to "have here a failure to communicate". I thought that I had trouble with the down-under accent, but I guess we just use the same words differently. No matter, we'll fig it out. We like puzzles.
