In order to avoid ground loops I bought an USB isolator with the ADUM3160 chip.
My Steinberg UR242 external sound adapter is detected through the USB isolator. It's shown in the Windows configuration and according to Windows it's working OK.
However the UR242 device is NOT available for audio input.
I'm using W11 with all the latest updates and tried several times after rebooting. The device is there, but not for input (or output).
What can this be?
NOTE: I do indeed have TWO UR242 adapters installed. Neither of them works. Connecting just one doesn't change anything either.

I know the UR242 isn't a bus powered device, but maybe it still needs more current than the 200mA DC-DC converter in the adapter can supply.
I know, I already stated that. I would still check that the output of the DC-DC converter in the isolator is not collapsing
I know, but this may be good enough for certain things I have to do. I'm not into rocket science.
There is nothing to test, as the UR242 is not detected as a valid input device.
Of course without the USB isolator everything is perfect and I have used it for years.

Ah, yes. That's probably what the problem is. He needs an ADUM3166/4166 based isolator.ADuM3160 is for full or low speed only.

Then a likely reason is that UR242 expects high speed USB connection so ADuM3160 does not work.Of course without the USB isolator everything is perfect and I have used it for years.
I tried adding a USB hub with it's own power supply between the isolator and the UR242. No success either.
The UR242 is detected immediately, but still cannot be used for audio input.
Buying more isolators with a "better" chip may be the next thing to gamble with.
