Aditional super tweeter to Tannoy DMT15 mk2

Dear all,

There are some ideas about adding super tweeter on top of cabinet. Yes, Tannoy has some ST models ST-25, ST-50, ST-100 and ST-200, but they are incredible expensive and there is a lack of custom hand made solution, so I will try to do it myself. Cheaper and on my own.

Is there any suggestion for driver, xover network (suppose that network will be only one capacitor or two capacitors and one inductor)....

Somewhere I found that for my driver is xover frequency is 16 kHz.

So, at this moment - I have nothing and any suggestion is more than welcome.

If you can, please navigate me.

Thank you all, regards,

Boris

Another thread that starts with subjective notions and not clear what problem needs to be fixed.

And your reasons for (a) thinking the speaker is deficient and that (b) adding freq that few can hear and that might be hard to find on recordings will be helpful?

If you think your system is not bright enough, first try EQ. Reporting your observations (using recordings you know very well) will provide some hints to yourself and to readers what are the issues.

For decades, I have been playing on successive systems the band on the Holst Band Suites CD with a blacksmith's anvil (no kidding... sounds like an anvil not an orchestral bell)*.

B.
*It may not come as a surprise that the band is titled Song of the Blacksmith on the second suite

Thank you all...

First - there is no problem that needs to be fixed. All works fine, but I would like to try what will be or can be. Why always should be problem, perhaps I can discover new ways or new things and there is no reason to be hard or stuborn.

Just because of this DIY things - I would like NOT to buy final product. Try or change and see what is the result.

In fact 3833GG works just fine.

Thank you,

Boris

You got the Fostex supertweeters, but they are not relly cheaper for the good ones. A T90A may fit and is 250€ and is the cheapest of the bunch that i would consider.

I have the Fostex FT17H and the T90A super tweeters both. There is also a FT96H in between my two models. They will all do what you are after. If you have the budget; go for the T90A. It is more accurate and articulate than the other lesser priced models. The FT17H is good enough for lower budgets. The FT96H makes for a compromise choice between the others.
