Chaing cartridges on my SME 3009 III It is a bit of a pain in the backside.
In the past I had 3 turntables.. That's a real state consuming not to mention the cabling and stuff.
Now I want some simple, clean setup with two tonearms to hear and test different cartridges without the drawbacks of changing the records, messing with cables.
Something simple.. I don't want to have a mad scientist cartridge lab lying her like the example below.
Any considerations? I have a Thorens TD-126

Considerations other than extending the plinth in order to install a second armboard to the left of the platter?

There's no real state in the original plinth/armboard. I was thinking of repositioning the tonearm and adapt the new tonearm.
Anyway, I find that having an external tonearm pod will do the trick.
Now I need to figure out how to build an external pod.
And where is the best place to position.
Other than that, I would appreciate secondary tonearm recommendations. I was wondering if a medium mass is a good choice to match a wide range of good (budget friendly) cartridges.

I considered that as one method of "extending the plinth".
The challenge would be to provide an inert base that securely maintains its position relative to the main plinth.
Hopefully one more aesthetically pleasing than that shown in your image above!
Anyway, that's another thread bump from me. I hope someone with the relevant experience will chime in.
