I have an Adcom GCD-575, it only produces static noise from all 3 outputs (digital coaxial, fixed output and variable output) Anyone have any idea what is wrong with it?
at first I thought it was the DAC but I get the same noise out of the digital output. Anyone has any ideas?
Yeah get a new player... I had one and unless you replace the drive you are getting half the information you should. If you search on here you will find the replacement drive.
Your problem? Perhaps one of the IC's died?
Seriously though I modified mine a lot and the drive lacking just made sure it never had the detail (or smoothness because of that which sucked) to stack up to my current player, an old pioneer dv-434 I got for $10 without remote at a thrift store (needs bigger capacitors in power supply, added new cord and helped but no room for much size of a cord).
What I did to the Adcom... doubled power supply capacitance, put in blackgates (had laying around) for outputs and clock crystal supply, and a few other things. Still sucks because of the drive.
