Hi there,
I bought an ADAU1701 Audio DSP board from 3e. Do you guys have any suggestions for a programmer for it? I have read several threads about programmers not working smoothly, so I’m looking for one that has a good driver for window 7 and will make the connection to SigmaStudio seamless. Thanks.

Lots of choices:
1. The original FreeUSBi board (LINK). You buy the Cypress CY7C68013A board and a daughter board that you populate. Some DIY.
2. The link drMordor provided. You buy the Cypress board and modify the firmware on it. Most DIY, least expensive.
3. An all-in-one solution, like the Sigmalink USBi (LINK). More expensive (~$30), but plug and play.
So it really depends on how much DIY you want to do. I have an extra (unpopulated) FreeUSBi daughter board that I could send you if you want to go that route.
PS - the 3e Audio board uses the 10 pin programming connector. Choose that option if you purchase the Simulink

Thank you guys, that helps a lot. Also, thank you ernperkins for your generous offer, but I think I'll tend more towards the Sigmalink solution. I'm sure I could eventually figure out the cypress board options, but my real goal is to get the the dsp board doing what I want. I could see myself fiddling with the diy programmer/driver stuff for a while and possible even writing a "how to" for others to follow, while my dsp sits around and gets dusty.🙂

This is Sigmalink, $10, in Russia.

I thought I should borrow this thread if that's okay. 🙂
I'm looking for a programming board for the 3E DSP as well, I was in contact with them and I got a link to a web-page that doesn't exist, and when I told them that I was told that it was on their web-page...
So here I am trying my luck with you instead! 🙂
I don't want to build anything, I want it pre-built and ready to plug in.
Does anyone know if the board from Analog Devices would work for me?
Analog Devices
The Sigma Link USBi would be my next choice, but with shipping costs to Europe and taxes on that I could get the other boards cheaper.
Any help is greatly appreciated so I don't have to contact 3E again. 🙂

I have no idea if it would work for either of you, but FWIW the Dayton programmer uses sigma studio and works with an ADAU1701 based board
That's a good point, didn't notice the missing pins. Someone did however write in the review that it worked for any board, but I'd rather take your word over his. 🙂
My only concern is the support, they/he (3E) seem to have some problem to understand, though replies do come pretty quickly.
And, the board from Analog Devices seem to have the ability to connect to multiple boards at the same time. I'm not sure if it's needed, I've got two boards that I might use for left + right channel, so my concern is if I need the ability to see if they both do the same thing when I for instance turn a knob. 😕
I'm new at this, as you probably have figured out, so I'm trying to take my time and avoid costly mistakes. 🙂

Okay, that's good to know. 🙂
The SigmaLink USBi would cost as much to buy (+ship) here in Europe as the evaluation board from Analog Devices, that I believe would work.

It's a bit strange that 3E didn't mention that they sell one on AliExpress... 😕

To update,
I decided to get in touch with 3E to clear up the confusion and the response I got was that the programmer they sell on Aliexpres wasn't mentioned as it's the same "cheap" version as Free USBi that one can download plans for or buy from many places.
The board from Analog Devices is the best but also the most expensive.
I mentioned the board from Dayton etc, but have not got a reply about it. (I didn't really ask any questions about it)
I hope it can be of some help to others.

I also have the 3e Audio DSP and the cypress CY7C68013A board. but I can't install it.
I already put windows to not check the digital signature of the driver.
Have Sigma Studio 4.5
The Cyconsole does not show any device...
Can someone help me?
Many thanks

after trying again
it works fine. I don't change something.
Happy to programm my DSP.
Thanks guys

The Aliexpress page for the 3e board says "On board USBi connector for online design with sigma-studio".
I assume that means that only a USB cable is required and an external interface is not needed?
Also what cables come with the PCB?

Unfortunately, your assumption is wrong. You need the programmer board that is the topic of this thread. Notice it doesn't say USB connector, it says USBi connector. IIRC Analog Devices coined the term USBi.
Thanks for that. I have some other questions but I will start a new thread rather than derail this one.
