Ad8599

Hey boys..

No, I'm not looking back. LM4562 was too boring for me. There is much more life and involvement with AD8599.

Here's the thing.

I've sent one to someone in order to give a report (far better system than me so he can hear more clearly the sound of that chip).
I first said I find this opamp to be more "involving" as said AVR, bass better than LM4562, but a bit too excited in highs.
He gave a more precise report : better details than the LM (!!), but moves the voices and highs more in front of the stage, too close. Said the highs hard to stand on the long term.
If this may help, so LM4562 for smoothing a system and AD8599 for pepping it 😉
I keep both and will check wich is the best for my music room when it's done. The last word is that they are close mates, it's just a diffrent taste.

Hi Guys - thanks for your comments after having 'taking up the thread' and to my fellow native Country man avr300 for his comments, picture and link to Brown Dog adaptors - been looking around for those actually...

It all looks quite promissing for the 2 sample AD8599 I'm gonna 'stick in' my Marantz SD-5200 Multi media centre, in order to 'spruce up the sound a bit...

C Ya 😉

AD8599 now in Marantz SR-5200

Hi All,
eventually got around to replacing 2 of the most critical native NJR2068 with the AD8599 samples kindly provided by Analog Devices. Quite a fiddely little job desoldering and resoldering these SMT devices.
BUT WHAT A DIFERENCE! this swop made - I completely line up behind avr300 - these chips are truely amazing.
Everything seems to be just so natural - with the right ambiance as it's supposed to be like... Neither end of the spectrum is over or under focussed, mid has astonishing clarity on voices and other delicates and if the recording is made with sharp S'sounds due to the choice of equipment - then you are bound to notice!
I have yet to hear something AD8599 is not good at, but so far I'm like avr300 'still listening' and very much enjoying the process...

Latest on AD8599 front...

Dear All,
Yes the AD8599 is very, very good indeed.
I have now for while used it in my media centre, line level application, just after the DAC, as a replacement for NJR2068 and the improvement was seriously significant. Away went the over emphasized bottom end (however initially impressive it was), together with the quite unpleasant grainy image at the top. Sound stage image is very defined, precise and not least musical without any disturbing artefacts anywhere in the spectrum. As probably previously posted here.
I have lately tried it for a low level cartridge level input application and it's very good (sound stage image again), but unfortunately lacks a little bit of resolution to be desired, at this small signal level.
But for line level - please 'go for it'!
Think next to try this remarkable chip for the I/V buffer in my CD player as a potential upgrade for the already implemented upgrade from NJR2068 to NE5532 (was at the shelve at the time).
The NE5532 is actually very, very liveable, but 'curiosity (supposedly) kills cat's', So ehhh...
Keep You posted.

Kind regards

Do agree
I've changed the NRJ2068 to AD8599 in my miniDSP 4X10HD and can't believe how much more details I'm now hearing.
I wouldn't called the 2068 muffled before but were they ever!
mid-low Bass is less pronounced than before but I think it integrate better with the rest of the spectrum.

I'm still burning in mine with only 8hours so far but I have a feeling I'll use the same AD8599 in my 2nd MINIDSP 4x10hd very soon.

I originally liked the ad797 the best out of my 20 opamps or so swap in a preamp test project but never manage to compare the AD8599 to the rest of my favorite as my test preamp is now dismantled... (I also like the bass of the opa2107 but it was only for a bass setup in a active system, treble of the 2107 isn't the best)

Unfortunatly, I run out of space to use two AD797 in the 4x10HD. I whish I could but the AD8599 really sound so good that I forget the "what if" of the AD797...
