I'm using MAX/MSP to do crossover / EQ duty for an active system. The sound card I'm using is a Tascam 16x08. I'm getting kind of a lot of hiss. I picked up better shielded cables and tried to arrange everything to keep power / computer / signal separate and that helped some, but it's still there. It disappears when I cut power to the Tascam, so I'm blaming it at the moment. The Tascam is feeding some chip amps I made (which have sounded fine driving normal passive speakers).
Anyone with experience quieting a system like this? Maybe some filters on the power supply for the sound card? The Tascam claims 100 ohm output impedance, perhaps a parallel resistor to lower the input impedance of the amps?
