Hi i purchased a pair on pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers after reading many great reviews about them. they sound great apart from a lack of bass. im looking to purchase a active subwoofer to fix the problem and would like a few recommendations. my budget is $200. Im using a Hifimediy 2050 amp. Iwas going to purchase the pioneer sw-8mk2 but after reading a few bad reviews about it not really working at low volumes ive decided against it. any help would be great. thanks 🙂
Hi,
Reviews of the Pioneer sub are mostly very positive.
e.g. Pioneer (Andrew Jones Design) SW-8MK2

The sub is shown set to max cutoff. Indicates to me that a little port
detuning /damping wouldn't go amiss for audio, probably fine for AV *.
rgds, sreten.
* You can try inserting into the vent a folded into a tube piece of 1/4"
thick open cell foam, oblong 3 x port dia x the length of straight port.
Will go a little lower, a little tighter with less or no bass bump.
