Hey guys, I'm new the forum and found the site after looking into Marantz KI Signature equipment. Since then I've purchased and repaired a faulty PM-66 KI Signature and I've been offered a set of Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo Three's from a mate for £100. They are a different league to the Mission 763's I had before but the drivers are a little worse for wear.
On the left side speaker, the bass driver has a sort of dent in it, and on the right side speaker the surrounds have got small rips in them.
From what I can hear this isnt detracting from the sound, but then again I havent heard a set without this damage.
I was ideally looking for advise as to wether I could repair the surrounds with a bit of glue as the replacment drivers would set me back around £150+, and If that is the best option, is £100 too much for these speakers?
Thanks in advance,
Adam 🙂

Usually a small dent wont harm the sound too badly, if at all. Rips in the surrounds can, providing the surround material is still intact (that is there aren't any holes in it) be repaired with a few dabs of superglue.

OK then, i'll give that a go and see how I get on.

Just to report back. had good results from a few dabs of glue, also found out the speakers have already been sand filled which I'm told improves the sound somewhat?
I'm now looking into modifying and I've got some spare QED 25th Anniversary Silver cable, and wondered whether that would make much of a difference over the standard ofc internal wiring?

Very unlikely over a short internal run.
You might (might) get some improvements by removing the XOs from the cabinets & putting them in external boxes (wood, plastic, aluminium or similar).

Speakers have really settled in well now and getting back to their full potential. I am now thinking about how I can upgrade them? They are already sand filled so I was thing about upgrading the crossovers/electronics/binding posts/wiring etc. Any ideas to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
Adam 🙂
