Hello. I've searched the threads and didn't find quite what I was looking for - hopefully didn't miss it. I have a pair of Acoustat Model 4s with the original Monster Cable-wired, non-Medallion MK-121-2A interfaces. I recently picked up a pair of MK-141-C red label interfaces with Medallion transformers. I'm looking to make the best possible interface for the Model 4s. Any help in which parts to swap from the Medallion MK-141-Cs to the MK-121-2As and which to retain in the 121-2As greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Unfortunately, the MK-141-C is the wrong interface for your project. The MK-141 series is a limited frequency range interface intended to be used with hybrid system, where a woofer takes over below 150 Hz or so. It is not capable of full range operation like the MK-121 series, nor is it designed to drive 4 panels. The MK-141 series was used with the Model One and 1+1S.
Unless your MK-121 has the original 3-diode bias power supply (as opposed to 5-diodes), I can't really think of anything worth transplanting from the MK-141.
You might consider performing the easy and inexpensive "C-Mod" on your MK-121, which will offer some improvement, although not nearly as dramatic as the very expensive Medallion upgrade. You may also want to consider replacing the Monster Cable, which unfortunately is probably badly oxidized (i.e. turned green).
