I just ordered a subwoofer that has high as well as low level inputs. My idea is to run the high level inputs for normal audio use on a very very low volume just to add some bottom to the sound.
The low level inputs will be used from the LFE on my processor to add an effect on films with 5.1 sound. The different inputs are mixed in the sub and this is the recommended setup.
Now I just read something in the manual that made me worried:
"It may not be possible or advisable to connect the high level input directly to an amplifier that has a class-d digital output."
They are offering am isolator to overcome this problem, but I am not sure if I need it? I am using LC Audio's ZapPulse modules (2.2SE)... anyone knows?

What they mean is don't connect the sub to such an amp when no load is connected to the amp. Also, some class-d designs have full bridge output which cannot be connected to a single ended input without shorting out one side of the bridge resulting in smoke and expense to both pieces of kit.
The ZAP as a source amp running speakers will be fine. Although as it's obviously a home made system, why don't you just add a pre-out after the main volume control?

I thought of that as well, building a small unit that mixes left and right signals as well as the LFE output with separate variable filters. But if I can send the high level directly I get the same functionality except independent filters (there is only one low pass filter for both inputs).
So you think it should be ok than? No need for isolators? Don't want to ruin the zapPulses (or the sub).
