I've read alot of the stickies, but I'm still a bit confused.
What I need to do is turn a painted piece of glass into a projector. no lcds, etc, just a vertical, painted piece of glass. resolution doesn't have to be perfect. the glass can be any size up to 20"x16" or so, and the final projected image will be 8-10' away and can be anywhere from 24" wide to say 8'.
I know this will require a light source and some lenses, but beyond that, I'm not sure. I'd like to do it as cheap as possible.
I hate to be one of those "tell me what to buy" people, but if I could just get a start on what sort of specs to get for lenses/ lights, It would be much appreciated.

only thing stops you project a 20"x16" 'slide' is finding a fresnel lens that size in affordable price. since you are not using LCD ( not very transperent ) and you probably don't care about the color temperature you can get away with a less powerful holegen bulb.
Fake it!
Take a 35mm slide photo of the glass and use a standard slide projector, concealed, to project the image.
